Saga OOC: Beginning of the End

I would like to agree with those who state that this new rolling system versus Shinpcs is, in fact, pointless and express my opinion that it unnecessary and ‘dumb.’ Why? Because it’s Shin’s site. Unlike other sites there is no confusion on just who the Manager is. There is no convoluted hierarchy between managers. Here, what Shin says goes and it’s worked fine up until this point.

This is an enabling tool for the members; it stifles their creativity because they are unable to cope with the limitations of their character. We all want to look cool; that’s fine, but… realistically in fantasy, we have members who are less than ten years old IC in their character development attempting to fight against legendary demons who are supposed to be Very Strong for all intensive purposes. They’ve managed to become strong, stay alive and be bad ass for centuries to the point where the god of hell would hand pick them for his goals. To put this into perspective, whereas Mukhya can learn 13 packages in the span of 4 years IC, let’s be generous and multiply that by 5 and guess how battle ready a pillar should be, especially for a big event like… I don’t know… doomsday… in like… Heaven.

My earlier request was misunderstood.

I didn’t promote wanting to see Pillar bio’s to see how weak they are; I wanted to see so that everything they do could be justified. For example, after fighting against someone who obviously only uses physical attacks and lightning, it would seem very feasible for The Leviathan to have gained an Elementz mode or some type of way to nullify lighting through his ice by now. Keep in mind, Pillars have been around for a while, so they’ve probably been in a variety of battles before, granted they have no actual back story. Pillars should have all of the defense and movement package techniques by default, they should have sensing as to not be caught off guard (something that could get you killed easily), they should have barrier techs that are used on a semi constant basis, they should have multiply affinities (Seiki has 3), they should be a lot stronger than they currently are and Shin shouldn’t reduce the effectiveness of their characters to make their defeat more accessible to members. Next thing you know, members are going to want to be able to actually -hurt- Dem one on one; The Watchers will be next on the list.

That’s what this is all about. The site has a tech to counter every tech and I believe that’s where strategy and collaboration comes into play. Shin, I don’t think you should have to justify your actions IC or even pay attention when someone says that your NPCs are overpowered. You’re the one who came up with the content for the site, so obviously you have a better grasp of the site’s mechanics than members (even senior members) would. Obviously the members don’t have a grasp of things if they are self combining multiple techniques into one attack (not just the Double KP, but the Telekinetics x2 as well) and not expressing the techniques and drains they are using.

If it’s described that hundreds of demons are coming out of an alchemy circle that is between you and a target, then it would be safe to assume that vision is hindered even if you get lucky and the circle itself is transparent. You, who have juggernaut at -Novice-, should not even be able to use the technique as often as you do. Yes, I -have- noticed that you’ve not been rolling for the use of that particular technique lately. Why? Because if you do roll for it and it fails, Mukhya won’t look as gully as you want him to. He’ll be screaming like a little bitch in pain because pain hurts without Juggernaut. You still have to train passive techs for a reason. This ‘cheating’ is what enabled the completion of the entire attack that you -thought- to be so assured and grand. That’s aside from the fact that this allows you to shrug off one attack per level; though it seems a loop hole of sorts, hundreds of rushing soldiers doesn’t seem like one attack and Mukhya isn’t strong enough to withstand that on paper IMO. To further illustrate this, though you may be right about staying focused on the target in order to connect a status technique, you never once state that you are using the techniques that you mention (edit: Juggernaut’s usages wasn’t mentioned either). As you will remember with Themeless, if you don’t say that you’re using a tech, you’re not using that technique. On top of not stating using the techniques, you’re neither taking the reduction in stamina nor rolling for their success (granted the techniques are perfected). These minor breaches of site protocol assist in elevating character perceptions to the point where it decreases the ‘pure’ strength and value of site NPCs. So if we break the rules, it would make sense that the site does as well simply to keep up.

Certain site NPCs -should- be hard to beat to the point where it may take more than 1 member to take it out, or you might not be able to take it out with the first thought that comes to mind. Even though thinking might hurt and take a while, it seems it should be the prerequisite for when you attack a Shinpc. It shouldn't discourage, but encourage. I don’t see members knocking down a Pillar with the first thing that comes to mind or some gimmick technique that is supposed to cripple a demigod.

That’s just my opinion of what I’ve been witnessing lately. I’ve already spoken to Ashurei about my thoughts and have come to an understanding with him. This particular wall is for the general populace. I think Shin has been too kind with allowing members to get away with things, but that’s just me.
