Vampire Cop (Open)

As the officer sat in his vehicle a gunshot rang out across the neighborhood, a nearby convenience store's doors slamming shut as two armed men walked inside. They were not heavily armed, just handguns, a group of people running from the store entrance and multiple police calls already being made. Inside, the scene was cold, the two males confidently walking in, pointing their guns about as an initial threat, forcing everyone in the store down, the clerk putting his hands up.

Max stood behind a shelf, examining a few magazines as the events unfolded, looking lightly from beneath his hood. He was dressed for one purpose today, it was his day off and it was his personal goal to improve himself. As the men shouted orders, Max calmly bent his knees, walking slowly and silently, moving towards the men from behind the counter. He looked towards them, flexing his hands a bit, ready to make a move. They were occupied with the cashier, leaving him unnoticed and easily able to sneak up behind them.

Max looked startled at seeing Brice again so soon. He grinned, though, looking to the two who turned rapidly to see the oncoming officer. As the first man’s foot was shot, he jumped back onto one foot, shouting.

“GAH! DAMNIT!” he glared at the officer as his buddy’s expression became a loathsome one, his face masked only by a large hood. As he looked up, a faint glow was visible in his eyes.
“Big mistake, cop.” He said, raising his hand and firing a ball of condensed energy from his palm roughly the size of a basketball, aimed straight at the other’s chest. The other looked at his bleeding foot, cursing beneath his breath.

“Hitorinji?” Max said beneath his breath. This was becoming a bit obscure, running into three in such a short period of time. He moved silently to the edge of the aisle, looking towards the two, ready to pounce as soon as the opportunity rose.

The other man immediately held up his gun, aiming for Brice only to have Max hurl a box of snacks at him, the scattered packaged and processed peanuts limply striking about the gun-toting thug who redirected his attention to the free-runner, letting loose a shot which missed, the man still hurt from the foot injury.
Max ducked momentarily, the man letting off another shot which hit the cooler door behind him. The man returned his attention to Brice, pointing the gun once more, a small energy sphere being prepared in his hand.

Max nodded before the police entered, moving to the metal backdoor and slipping out unnoticed as the other officers entered. He walked over to the fire escape of a nearby building, hopping up to the ladder and climbing up to the roof, peering out over the scene below curiously.

“Hitorinji thugs?” he spoke to himself, more a thought than a statement, “But… I thought they would be above that…” he muttered in disappointment. He scouted the area for Brice’s car, noticing the only one parked a block away and making his way towards it. This just wasn’t right, the Hitorinji have a special gift, they can use energy freely, why would they use it like petty crooks? Why would they tote around guns and hold up a convenience store? Were those guys the exception, or were they all like that? His mind wrapped around this subject furiously, trying to fit some logic in, trying to form a conclusion. But from everything he had encountered, this was nearly unthinkable… He didn’t understand why someone would use such an astounding gift for such a petty cause.

“They coulda at least robbed a bank…” he muttered, his disappointment falling upon the deaf ears of the pigeons with whom he frequently perched. Finding the nearest route down, he descended from the building, using the fire-escape as usual, and moved towards Brice’s car.

Max walked calmly over to the cruiser, tapping on the window after the other had entered and bending down to look in. He was still faintly watching the scene and figured Brice’s long face was from getting chewed out. Cops had a tendency to get chewed out for doing the right thing.

"I'm fine." Max said, looking the other over, moving his hand to rest on Brice's shoulder, "Hey, you alright?" he asked, "There's no way they said something that bad." he glanced over at the police force, "Must be hard, though..." Max said, now pondering himself.

Max raised a brow, looking the man over once more, “Um, alright…” he said, looking back to the rest of the officers, “You sure it’ll be ok to have a civilian in your car?” he asked, moving around and getting in anyways, “I mean, aren’t you still on duty?” he glanced over the inside of the cruiser, never having been in one before. He traced his finger over the leather of the dash, examining the in-car laptop, radio, and all the other fun toys a cop gets, not able to help peeking in the back just to see what it looked like up close.

Max nodded, looking to the man, “Raziel doesn’t know you’re doing this, does he?” he asked, looking over the other. He barely knew the two, but now Brice was looking out for him so intently. It was odd, something he was beyond unused to. He looked down and forward, “So, I’ve heard Raziel’s side, but not yours… What is it like?” he asked, referring to the ‘curse’ the other was bound to live with.



This wasn’t the number one question on his mind, though, there were other questions he wanted to ask, though one of them was already answered. They were going to a Hito temple, an odd thought after seeing those two thugs only minutes earlier. Glancing out the window, he looked at the countryside leading to the forest territory. It was funny that it looked so alien to him. Then again, he never intended upon coming back.

Max nodded, looking out with a sigh, “Raziel seems really attached to you, I know he wouldn’t hurt you too bad…” he said, looking back to him, “I mean, with how much he flirts with you…” he said, looking the male over a bit before looking forward again, “So, the Hitorinji at the temple, what are they going to be like? What exactly do they do?” he asked, his fingers tapping a bit nervously on his leg. He didn’t necessarily care what they were like if they would help him understand more about this whole situation.

He wasn’t even entirely sure about this whole mess, there had to be another way… Another way to use energy without possession or turning or anything else like that, he just knew it. In all his years as a Free runner and a photographer he had learned one rule was always absolute: There were always more paths. Even in the simplest of road, there were a million routes you could take, being given the ‘fact’ that he only had two choices was upsetting and bothersome. He didn’t believe it for a second, there was another way to use energy, there had to be.

Max gave a soft sigh of sorrow from hearing the other’s opinion on the matter. He looked to Brice, feeling genuine pity for the other. He was living his own personal hell under the grip of another. It sounded so constricted, so bound… It wasn’t the free life a good person deserved. “Thank you, Brice.” He said calmly, opening his mouth to speak, a slight blush forming before the landing on leather was heard. Max turned quickly only to catch a slight glimpse of the black fox tail dipping beneath his line of sight, a more panicked and serious look quickly forming, his blush fully dissipated in the blink of an eye.

“Um… Brice… I think something’s in the back seat,” he said in a cautious tone. After all the things he had seen from meeting Raziel alone, a creature suddenly appearing in the back of the police car couldn’t be a good thing. Between werewolves and vampires, there was no telling what else might have a beef with a vampyric cop.

Max peeked down in back, still uneasy. He knew he saw something fall, but he wasn't quite sure what. If Brice wasn't too worried, he would try not to be, but paranoia was a bit hard to fight off at the moment.

"Alright... Coulda swore..." he muttered, looking back forward, glancing at the rear view mirror, "Oh well... So how far into the forest territory is this temple anyways?" he asked, unable to work up the nerve to ask the question he wanted to earlier just yet.

Max gave a warm, if half-hearted, smile at Brice’s gesture, looking to the other for a long moment, not really caring what music was on. It helped ease the mood. However, a sudden tingle moved through his spine, sitting erect in response to the obscure feeling as the tingling sensation moved through his stomach and atop his lap, ending in the pressure of a small animal’s weight on his thighs. He looked down, his face pale and eyes wide as he saw a fox now calmly sitting on his lap, watching her motions carefully as his entire body tensed up. “The… fuck…?” he said in a shocked and astonished tone.

He watched as the animal raised its forepaw, sending what appeared to be a static jolt into the radio and feeling his hairs bristle even through his pants as the electric discharge ionized the surrounding air. Max’s breathing was edgy and sharp, staring down at the creature who now curled up as calmly as a housecat and with even less issue doing so on his lap. “Brice… what the hell is this?” he asked, his gaze fixed on the creature resting in his lap, too nervous to even attempt to touch it. There was too much down there that it could claw if he tried.

At first I didn’t notice much but the sound or rather lack of coming from the radio caught my attention as I saw something else was now in the car with us. I stared a moment before forcing my self to keep my eyes on the road. “Kitsune?” Murmured to myself as I glanced back a few more times. No Kitsu didn’t have powers like that, at lest not that I was aware of. But Raz had spoke of other creatures that took animal forms.
“Damn…it’s probably a Yokai, a demon animal.” I answered back still glancing at the creature when it was safe to remove my eyes from the road. By now we turned on an exit and had entered the forest. While it was a bit trouble some, it didn’t appear to be hostile so there wasn’t much we could do, besides take it as far as it wanted to go. “Shit… how am I going to explain this to the Precinct?” I grumbled looking at the radio.

Max blinked, looking down to her. At least, he thought it was a she, judging by the voice. "Um... pardon?" he asked, looking the fox over, "Aren't I a bit out of your genus?" he asked, not sure if or if not he was in the right to make the comment. He glanced over at Brice, really unsure of what should be done now, but returned his gaze to her eyes, really unsure what was proper etiquette when speaking to a 'demon animal,' let alone if he should actually consider the cute comment a compliment or not coming from one.

My eyes narrowed, obviously I was a cop, my uniform and car should have made that abundantly clear but I kept driving with no comment. After listening to them awhile I gave an annoyed sigh “Do you have reason for stowing away in my car?” I asked, though I didn't expect much in the way of an answer. As I turned onto another dirt road, the car rumbled along the uneven surface until coming to the end that was blocked with a sign marked “Dead end”. I stopped the car and put it in park before stepping out. The sun was still high enough to see over the trees we had plenty of time and for that I was thankful. “Are you coming with?” I asked ducking my head back in as I posed the question to Max.

Max blinked, a slight blush unable to be hidden, though it was far more uncertain than attracted at this point. “Um… My name is Max…” he said before the car stopped, unsure of what to do about the other arching her back. He looked to Brice as the car stopped, then back to her, “I’m terribly sorry, but I kinda am supposed to be going with him right now…” he said, trying to be as diplomatic in this matter as possible.

Max gasped, looking down to her, chuckling to himself that he technically just got hired to commit beastiality on a regular basis. "Let me put in my two weeks at the paper and we'll be good." he said, hearing her comment and looking about for Brice, immediately feeling ashamed for what just transpired. He was trying to admit that he liked Brice, then got seduced by a yokai... This was just not his week... "Shit... He's probably in the forest..."

Max hastily tucked himself away, only now remembering that she physically cut open his pants rather than bothering to undo them. “Shit…” he said, looking down, before looking back to the Yokai, “Well, I guess I work for you now…” he said, standing a tad awkwardly before running into the woods where Brice had disappeared off to, feeling horrible about what happened. After a short search, he found the other on the forest floor, coughing in pain and Max’s heart immediately sank into his stomach. “BRICE!” he shouted, running over to the other, “Are you ok?!”

Max blinked, "Brice, wait..." he said, moving after him, “What happened?” he asked in genuine concern. “I…” he stopped, his mind coming to a dead halt for words. He neglected the only person trying to help him, legitimately, from the beginning. His stomach did a back flip as he looked to the other’s back, evoking a coldness within that, while he knew he kind of deserved at the moment, he didn’t particularly enjoy. As the Yokai, his new boss, grabbed his pant leg, he ignored it for a split second before looking down, “Huh?” he mumbled half wittedly, “What, you want me to just go back like that? I thought you could teleport, why do you need the car…?” he asked, assuming teleportation was how she got into the car in the first place.

Max looked towards the temple, giving a sigh before following after Grunty, whether its what she wanted or not.
