Grid Location: R2+R3[/b]

Hidden away on the lush, jungle and forest covered island to the north is the Sanctuary known as Mandira. This island while serene and beautiful in scenery has been plagued by bandits, warring tribal leaders, and pirates. Due to its distance from most villages and dangers, it was hard to get medicine and other such supplies, so the village became very self-supportive. This also kept a particular village, Renrut, weak against the oppressive warlords and manipulative merchants. Two of their merchants found a priestess and a wounded companion in strange garbs along their path. The companion was discovered to be far more than a mere mortal. Their arrival was met with fear and suspicion, which caused instant turmoil.

While the companion is away, a battle between the main tribal warlords spills into the village and it gets set on fire during the fighting. The victor of the battle rounded up the villagers of Renrut to be enslaved. When the soldiers threatened to kill the spiritual leader of the village, the "Krōdha ki Yaksa" (Demigod of Fury) appeared in the sky. The Yaksa slaughtered the tribal forces holding the villagers captive. They were free, but they had lost everything when their village had been destroyed. The Yaksa led them west to the coast where they sacked a bandit camp and one of the warlord's camps. Moving deep into the heart of the island, the Yaksa settled the villagers in a small oasis where they started their new life in the new outpost of Mandira.

Mandira quickly becomes a symbol of refuge for the lost spirits wandering the north since the Great Rift. It would serve as a bastion of survival and acceptance. The Yaksa known as Mukhya would teach the villagers to survive and fend for themselves while using his network of contacts in different villages to start setting up trade with the small outpost. He also convinced some friends and allies that are mercenaries and hired swords to take up residence and help defend the new village. The village is on its way to growth and with that, the promise of prosperity, security from oppressive warlords, and the peaceful coexistence of spiritual beings and normal humans.
