Yeah... laziness and my weekly trip to Santa Barbara took hold. No Top 5 for me. This month will probably be no different unless I FINALLY write that damn solo for the Martial Arts package...

More important tho... does anyone have the new crappy Windows Live messenger and like it? I just want my normal contact list like all the other messengers. I don't want to see pointless azz ads or MSN's social and news reel crap. I prefer Google News anyway!

Yeah...I'm not fond of the new one. I use the one before it with Plus. They force you to display your fist and last name as far as I can tell, so it's more difficult having a handle. Plus isn't compatible with it yet I don't think. I'll wait it out some more and see if things change.

When I got it I was like, really? Like a 10 minute installation and then my computer having to do a bunch of updates for a no scene, display name, and wonky advertisement packed version of messenger? Then they try to make it super hard to uninstall it. Like, if you delete it and reinstall old versions they're like, "Oh, you already have a newer version of it installed." So you have to get a weird cracked version of the old one to even get rid of it. >.>

I think I finally finished the "Ash’s Guide to RPG Personality & Background" guide...just without the background part. Yay...

yo psi, i just got dish HD, son! i'm all like "i dun watch tv.. ha!" then i turn it on and fast and furious is on and i'm all like tv has a way of sucking you in!

It gets worse when you learn the wonders of the DVR. That's when you don't even have to be home for certain shows/movies/specials. Then when you're bored or can't sleep, you go to the DVR and there is like hours of stuff to catch up on. Best part is that you can fast forward thru all the commercials. I'm annoyed b/c I have to switch to Time Warner Cable, which is annoyingly overpriced with HORRIBLE customer service.

You should be able to click on a program that is coming on later and it give you the option to "Record Program/Episode" or you may have to search for a program and it should let you record that way. If the show/movie is currently playing, it won't give you the option to record it while it's running I don't believe.

What episode are you on?

Still at the beginning. I'm about to watch 2 & 3 before I head out for the night.

wait.. a soulline is just like a normal transformation? Thats absolutely retarded.. there is no reason to call it a soulline, just make it a transformation that allows use to techs.

When you say soulline, think of it this way..and see if this makes sense to anyone else besides me..

A set of bloodline abilities that are passed down through your family, generation to generation, that can be unlocked through extensive training or great stress. Once unlocked, they should be able to be used since htey are a part of your soul." Soullines are inherited abilities."

Once that thing that is part of your own soul is unlocked, it should be able to be trained to be a normal part of your daily activity. I wont argue against this decision, since I can see the plausibility of it, but I would like a good, solid reasoning for why it cant be an affinity. I can understand not being your true affinity, but the point of spending 100 TEXP for it is that you extensively train the hell out of it to master it. Are you telling us that it doesnt matter how much time a spirit has to train something, they can never master it to that level?

Yes there are new locations.

A Soulline isn't a transformation. Kyro & I were discussing this earlier funny enough and it's that with your SoulMode, it's technically always active. It is kinda a foregone thought that you'll renew it, so you simply pay your stamina of 7-10 pts every few posts and your good. Transformations boost attributes +1 @5 STA per post/turn, while ur SoulMode gives a single attribute or skill boost AND gives you four custom abilities.

As for the affinity question, it boils down to the same basis as the "Light/Support hinder your offensive magic" rule, it's not about sensibility, it's about site mechanics & calibration. Even though Shin & I debated the sensibility for a good 20 minutes or so, it broke down to "You can do this, this, & that with Light package, so if it's not limited, you can deal more damage than anyone else and the arms race will continue. Soullines are our creations and they serve one purpose, fill in the gaps, so that I can do what the site prevents me from doing. Simple and plain. Generally, it's a coordinated set of customs that if are allowed to be an affinity can easily make us overpowered.

It's also like I told you, some of the proposed soulline abilities would become annoyingly spammable if they were affinities b/c they could get off these custom fierce attacks with status effects attached to them for like 14 STA.

So, in terms of storyline explanation, while they are inherited or innate, unlocking and manifesting these powers makes them too difficult to fully master as I am sure we evolve the application of the abilities as we improve strategies and get new powers to complement or be complemented by our soulline powers. That or just say that since it is a power of an entire classification that one member can never be completely in tune with the source of the powers. Something along those lines should suffice for your character to make sense of it IC. That can motivate him to keep going or something. The endless quest to perfect the powers of his soulline.

In this scenario, the best thing to do if you don't like it is to develop a system for it and put it in site suggestions since it was hinted another update is looming.

So, essentially, for those of us who made our soullines to compliment ourselves and make a well rounded character inside the "common sense" roleplaying realm, we get boned. While I would gladly spend 200 txp to get it as an affinity, I can see why at plus 1 stat modificaiton would be absurd on a spirit. we are already at strong across the board...

and wouldnt it have been much easier to say "no status effects if the attack is over fierce", or require massive work.

Example: AOE Storm of Light : Stun for 100 feet, Destructive damage.. Requires 5 posts of charging before it goes off in which I cant do anything

Personally, I'm of the mind that Movement is a pretty pointless affinity for a spirit or anyone able to fly. Not many of the abilities are all that useful to us. I would just take the TEXP and expand your skill set.

As for soullines, the only thing is that some soullines are too closely tied to the character's main setup. Your soulline is meant to be basically, you are from this family/clan/group so you have these abilities, more like a "pseudo-racial" bonus than a character upgrade. That's what the customs are for. We are able to pick and mold the soulline so that it's an ideal compliment, but I don't believe it was ever meant to be treated like a stand alone package, nor was a taint, hence the only having 4 abilities and a mode/transformation only.

Also, you personally came away really well b/c Shin hasn't allowed another element-based/heavy soulline since yours, but never made you change yours b/c in RP/IC terms, I don't quite see the logic or feasibility of a group made up of one race and one blatant focus in the same sense. Like the Kunashi are diverse, and while true most have Spiritual Arts or Light b/c they're Kami, there are some that specialize in several different magics or physical combat style. The logic is so that if you face an enemy that is really strong against your particular focus, there is someone else who can back you up and you move into support/backup mode.

That was what my storyline was based around. There are elemental clans that focus solely on one element. if you look at my soulline, it is not a single solution or stand alone package. For the most part, it is a support magic package that stuns or paralyzes the enemy, which gives me the support role for the group I am rping with. I based it on the combat that our famiy line did with defending the heavens, and designed this so that I could support you guys when we were in SE's

@Shin, nah, this is merely venting evident by the fact that he's already debating between a new affinity or using the TEXP. Site-only would be kinda blah. I also agree with Kyro's suggestion tho personally I'm in favor of keeping the no-soulline as affinities rule. I think affinities should be calibrated to site packages only. I think they are the easiest to prevent the abuse of.
