It was usually not a sight, a noble going through Harlem to meet with the people that came. Though not the busiest of places during the day, due to customers liking to spirit away to this area at night, Rei liked to greet the workers of Harlem. The possessed hume waved to a few people, today choosing to move on foot instead of on his horse. He had two of his guards that moved ahead as though they were just workers here and two flanked him. Should Rei have asked, he knew that two would have followed him on the rooftops. Rei didn't always like the security, but it was not truly his choice in the matter. They always insisted that he had guards with him at all times to enforce rules that he shouldn't 'dirty his hands' with.

It turned out the previous night had been very profitable for the Lord of Harlem, but more-so for Domen, the lord of the whole territory. It pleased many of the workers, but they would be sleeping before the night came, unless one of the scant few daytime customers came. They were increased since Rei's leavings to Hejar and saving their princess, and such was good for business.

The sun flew high in the desert air, and the scarfed noble released a low sigh at the thought of having to see all of the workers, but it was the least he could do as the political figure-head. He wondered if the forest shop man would be around here sometimes- he'd go and check later. At the moment Rei was headed for the start on the 75% of Harlem that he had yet to reach. It was going to be a long day.

She touched him gently, admiring his features. They were around the same age, but his face was already maturing into a man's. Edges were beginning to define themselves and he didn't have the fullness of youth in his cheeks. His eyes watched her. He was being so gentle with her. She didn't mind how he looked at her. He was the only one to ever see her this exposed, even if it was only her shoulders. She had always made sure no one glimpsed at her young maiden body. She believed that right should be reserved to the man she wanted to spend her life with. A maiden wish. She wanted only one man to ever see and touch her flesh. It was something her mother told her would ensure she had a faithful husband who would love only her.

FInally he spoke. His voice was soft and gentle and she relaxed. She licked the blood from her lips, but they remained a sweet red. His words made her gaze deeply into his eyes and she saw something there that no one had ever looked at her with. She didn't know if she could name it yet, but his words meant alot to her. She would stayhere with him. His words spoke of her being needed and it made her smile warmly at him. He would protect her. This new body was simply a way for her to be able to live with him and be an equal. It would take time for her to control every aspect of it, but she knew that Rei would be there to aide her and keep her from doing too much harm.

THe words whispered in her mind. She didn't quite understand what it meant, but she applied the term to him. Her crimson orbs were warm and filled with an array of emotions for him that she did not understand just yet, but the spark of love was flickering there. A gentle flame that had been ingited between them. She would then lean up, her eyes fluttering shut, lashes caressing flushed cheeks. If he did not move her lips would press against his in a sweet and gentle kiss.

Rei continued to look down at her with those eyes- his inner possessions finally shut up an stayed back as though with baited breath. What would her response be to this? It didn't seem to Rei that Fuyumi minded him looking at her, but this moment was too important to look at her body. Her eyes held everything he needed at the moment. She was his mate, in terms of spirit talk. She would be his wife. Oh, he had momentarily thought about what Domen would say, but in mere seconds, it did not matter. Domen'yun's 'mate' was a strange choice. Rei could love another like him, could he not? It was justified, even, since he had changed her. But not out of anything but blood lust. And despite that fact, despite the fact that he had taken her innocence away, she did not seem to harbor and ill will. Quite the opposite was true.

But then her head started to move towards his. He held her gaze until her eyes closed and her lips met his. He'd never kissed anyone before, but he had seen kissing. His own eyes closed as the arm that had not been bitten came up to her face and settled on her ivory colored cheek as his other arm, fully healed, wrapped around her from behind to hold her securely. Ah, she was a bit younger said his senses, but his mind paid little attention. He was caught up in the moment, in this whirlwind. It was a slice of his own, personal heaven. He never felt loved, since the day his village was destroyed and burned into cinders. But he felt it, tasted it, on his lips. This was no lust, and he would do all he could to protect this life that he cherished in his arms.

Fuyumi honestly didn't know how to truly hate. Even the rival clan who killed her own... She disliked them, but she did not hate them. She knew deep down her own clan had brought it down upon their heads. So here it was proven, for she felt no hate. Come morning she might be a bit upset with him. Might even give him a good hit upside his head. But once her frustration was let out she would calm and simply understnad this was her new life. She would remain beside him from now on. She feared being killed for what she was now.

Her lips met his in a sweet and innocent kiss. Nothing was rushed. It was a shared feeling. She was held against him and she turned the rest of the way and lay her free hand upon his chest as they shared this gentle moment. She did not know if this was love. But she felt wonderful and wanted, even needed by him. Love's seed was taking root within her heart and would blossom with more time spent together till only he mattered. It was the beginning of something both seemed to yearn for. She had been so alone and now she felt like she had found what she had been searching for aside from her clan. Maybe.. Just maybe... Life with Rei would allow her to move on and make her own clan with him.

Rei smiled down at her and then leaned back as he laid down on the mats on the floor and released a low sigh, filled with exhaustion. One might think he was energized, but he went through several long days before this. Still, he smiled at Fuyumi and said quietly, "It's still a young night. Is there anything thing that you want to do, Fuyu? I'll do my best to help you or do what it is you want to do."

It was truly an amazing thing for Rei, that he had the energy to do all of this. Or perhaps it was her draining of his blood that had him a bit tired. Yes, that had to be it- though he was a vaspire, he never knew how it was to be sucked on. The vaspire kept his hand around her to keep her stablized on him, but the other hand moved to pull her closer for a hug, a gentle one that she had likely never had before. Tender and caring, no large amount of force. As if to say 'I'm here for you, always'.

The kiss was broken just as gently as it had began. Her eyes fluttered open, still crimson, but not glowing as they had been. She blinked and then found herself gazing at him as he laid down. Her brow furrowed as she worried about him. He looked tired. She peeked at her futon for a moment before she was pulled close to him. She did not fight him and laid her head on his chest, smiling serenely as he held her as if she were precious. And deep down she now knew she was to him. He would be the provider now in her life, though she would not be useless to him. She was strong and growing stronger with each passing season. She also knew how to run a household. THat much she had learned from her mother. Fuyumi had been the heir to the clan and had to know how to be a lady of the house. While she wouldn't act lady-like all the time. She knew what was needed from the lady of the house.

She nuzzed her cheek against his chest and yawned in a kittenish manner. She felt sleepy now. "Sleep.." she finally said. "But on the futon.. Stay with me, Rei.." she asked him softly, yawning again. She then blinked and tilted her head back a bit to peer at him from her position. "You called me Fuyu..." a whisper that was followed by a smile. "I like you calling me that," she added and would sit up, seeking to pry herself from him. Her sleeping yukata was opened abit and gave him a glimpse of the lush body that it hid from the world and would be his from this day forth. She would try to go to the futon, tugging on him to jion her on the soft surface to rest for the night in one another's arms.

Rei waited patiently and when he heard the request, he felt back about the sigh, he might have taken something from her, but she did give a yawn, which drew one from his mouth as well. The vaspire nodded his head and allowed her to get free from his arms, and saw a glimpse of her body, far more than her shoulders. He knew how to be a lord- and he knew staring was not something he should do. He did smile after a moment as he looked up at her as he sat up as well. His own skin was not showing, and he rarely showed it to others, but he decided that it wasn't fair for him to just see Fuyu. He pulled the top part of the yukata down and away to reveal a body heavily trained by years in weapon techniques- not overly muscular, but not a pencil either. He gave her a light smile and joined her in the futon, and finally spoke to her comment about calling her Fuyu, "Then that is what I'll call you from now on."

Rei settled in and pulled her close again, but of course allowed her to have her head out of the blanketed area. His body shifted back into his human form, those crimson hues shifted back into the soft cholate brown orbs as he let out a low yawn and settled down for the night. A smile on his face, he said softly, "Oyasumi, Fuyu."

She was allowed to rise and she moved to the futon. She drew the sheets back and slid her legs beneath the sheets. She turned to look at him just as he removed his haori. Her eyes widened as she gazed at him, a blush quickly touching her cheeks. She did not look away as he came to the futon and laid down. She did as well and then his arms encircled her smaller form. Her blush brightened but she nuzzled her face against his bare chest without a hint of hesitation. His arms made her feel safe, even though he was the one who changed her. She would likely be mad in the morning for a bit. Her eyes darkened and returned to a honeyed brown. She tilted her face up to gaze at him and smiled.

"Oyasumi, Rei," she replied and leaned up just a bit to press a kiss to his cheek. She then settled and snuggled into his arms better, her eyes closing, the top of her head tucked under his chin. Her breath began to slow and her body relaxed as sleep took over. She was exshausted from the change and would need to rest for a couple of days at most to regain her full potential. It would not do well for her to be vunerable.

Rei smiled lightly as she replied and had an inner chuckle at her blushing. In the blushing department, she was like other's he'd known, but she was a unique person unto her own self, which was something that he valued greatly. She was not just someone that blindly accepted everything, she had a sense of honor about her. She had traveled for years, he knew the signs of it. Rei didn't have the energy for thinking about it as she snuggled closer and slipped into sleep, her head under his chin. His warm smile remained as he slid into sleep himself, never once did he tell the maids or servants. In fact, it was only later in the night when they came in silently through the sliding door that they saw the pair. Of course, with Rei in bare arms they thought he had already done the dirty deed. Sometimes Rei believed he would do better without servants and their gossip.

The next morning....

As a traveler, Fuyumi was use to waking with the sun as it rose. Out of habit her eyes fluttered open slowly and she yawned just a bit. She was warm and slowly everything sank in and last night's events crashed down upon her. Her eyes widened as she went over the events that transpired in her mind. Her eyes flicked up to the male holding her and she frowned. She sat up and would without warning strike at him to whack him right upside his head.

"BAKA!" would ring out in the room as Fuyumi's normal temperment returned to punish him for what had happened.

Rei was a pretty sound sleeper, but when Fuyumi woke up and moved, he stirred slightly- and then he was fully awakened when she struck in the head, and the her voice rang out as "BAKA". The servants that were here for the morning all charged up and looked in to see the pair, Rei with a slap on his face, with his race looking very confused as to what had just happened. Chuckles slid from their lips as they then went away to let the pair have a bit of privacy. They assumed that maybe Rei had messed up with their 'love making' last night and it just came to Fuyumi.

Rei seemed very confused and at the moment and then it struck him why she likely hit him. Rei placed a hand to the mark and simply accepted it as he let a low chuckle out. He nodded his head with his eyes warm towards her despite the strike and said, "I deserved that, so I can't say I'm not a baka. Fuyu, how are you this morning?"

She would huff and cross her arms under her breasts. He had deserved to be hit. Plus she was quite a violent woman at times, a warrior at heart in a sense. She looked away from him and let him absorb the meaning behind her anger. It wouldn't be hard to figure out why she was upset. She never saw the servants and didn't know that there was gossip going around now about them both. She would likely find out later in the day after she rested some more. But for now this was just between them.

When he spoke she peeked over ar him and the warm look in his eyes melted away that anger. She sighed and smiled finally. He accepted her hit like a man and also noted what he had done wrong. She took a moment longer before she lay back down and just peered at him, her eyes warm and curious. "Tired," she finally answered and it flickered along her features. THe change had drained her quite a bit. "I think I will stay in bed till evening. I do not think I can be on my feet for more than just relieving myself."

Rei understood what she meant- changing had made him very tired and worn out. Still, her anger was like a bite from a kitten that was so nice to you the previous night, but he absorbed it because he had to. Silence passed between them a moment before he nodded his head and slid out of the futon. He then sat seiza style and patted her head gently, "Then rest and sleep, Fuyu. There are a few items on my list today that need doing. I'll see you again after I make breakfast for you."

Rei then stood up and slipped the haori back over his upper body and went to the sliding door and turned back to give her a warm smile before exiting. He'd found the woman of his dreams- strong and yet loving. Yes, she was a unique one, and that only made him want to protect her all the more. And he knew just what to get her for breakfast- he had a low fat fish that he was an expert at grilling on his own and rice that went with it with just a bit of coloring, and a special blend of herbal tea that would assist her in gaining her strength back. The vaspire had not spent all his time just training his body, but his mind as well, and he was able to use this to help the girl now, a smile on his face as he cooked and waited for a fresh change in cloths.

He got up from the sheets and she immediately missed the warmth coming from his body. But she didn't say anything and scrunched her nose like a kitten as her head was petted by him. She perked when he said he would make her breakfast. She smiled and snuggled down into the futon, his scent on the pillow and within the sheets. Her eyes followed him as he got up and pulled his haori back on and then he stepped up to the shoji door. The smile he sent her made her smile in return, a faint blush on her cheeks as her heart fluttered in a way she had never known. He left the room and she closed her eyes, nuzzling her nose against the pillow where he had laid his head. His scent calmed her and quickly she feel back to sleep, needing this time to rest and heal. THe seed within her heart was growing and a single bud was beginning to show.
