A couple of days passed after the most recent attack on the city. The Division was able to start getting a fix down on the major problem areas of the city. There were portions of the city which were not affected as bad as some, and the fact that the buildings were made out of reconstructing nanites, made the restoration of those areas easier than normal. Aside from that, there would be a greater understanding of the overall toll of the damages so that the harder hit areas could start making their comeback.
As the leader of the Division, I was weary, if not paranoid of another strike. I didn’t see any reason for the demon’s not to continue their attack, so I would assume that one could start at any moment. Aside from that, it seemed like the government’s main priority was protecting themselves with the people coming second. Though that bothered me a little, it was to be expected. I had begun an initiative in seeking out gifted individuals to bring sort of a renaissance to technology, hoping that would pan out some results. Things like “time off” were a foreign topic for me, since I spent most of the time while I was awake on some type of scheme that was job related. My attention was split on all avenues of the Division at once, so it took a lot of energy and brain power just to retain focus on the bigger pictures.
As such, I knew that I needed to utilize as many sources as I had. Since a couple days had passed, I would check up with Sanzon to see how useful he could be to me. Though it was true that I didn’t really care for him much, it was also true that I didn’t have many operatives who could level a city block with ease.
My enforcer would pull up to the front of his compound with the announcement of my arrival preceding me, as basically my people would have spoken to his people. Parking the vehicle, I would walk with a two other officer class operative to meet with the fallen kami. My approach into this compound and place of business would be dependent on the type of reception given and if there were any barriers in the way, such as gates, doors, etc.

| | I sighed while covering a folder and tossing it to the side. No, I had no interest in hosting an academic gala for the lower commons here. The academy opening had been put on hiatus until the city was rebuilt, especially now that families were paranoid about their kids going further than necessary. Heather, my assistant, would come over to inform me of the arrival of our guests. I had never expected him to drive all the way out here, when a simple conference call would work. Then again, maybe he was really making progress towards accepting angels as a part of his everyday life. The steel gates would open, revealing a small round road with a fountain the circle. The white stone stairs would be in front of a solid white and glass building. Most of the front glass was being replaced, as construction had to be restarted to repair the facility’s outlying portions. Two men would be at the front to greet the guest before opening the glass doors and heading inside. From there, a large open foyer with a glass skylight would hold two tables with casual foods and drink. “The meeting is up the staircase to your right.” At the top of the staircase was a long, open glass room with a decently sized conference table. I had used it to hold staff meetings and such, making this the perfect to host a meeting. At the end of the conference room would be a door that led to my office, where I was currently located. Hopping up, I would turn to my minibar to get a bottle of water before heading out and into the conference room. “Heather, make sure our guests are taken care of.” She would nod before departing the room and heading to the top of the stairs to greet those from the Division.

While walking in, I notice the surroundings about me. Of course, his little enterprise was monitored as much as possible by the Division. We knew at least all the public information that would be offered about the type of company it was as well as Sanzon. I didn’t know how someone who didn’t have city citizenship could acquire such a position, but I figured it had something to do with the type of personality he held. He seemed to be enjoying himself and doing well here in the city, which was slightly a pet peeve, since it kind of bolstered my point that spirits would attempt to slowly invade the city. For all practical purposes, Sanzon, in my eyes, was an illegal aliens straight from south of the border who was taking away jobs and opportunity from hardworking citizens. “Tsk,” I murmur as we come upon the entranceway.
With a nod to the two men, I continue on the path pointed, wondering if they were human or something else; it would make sense for Sanzon to hire his own. I make it to the top of the stairway, seeing someone there to greet us. I take this woman to be either Sanzon’s receptionist, secretary or his lover; of course those are all just my guesses. I sight lightly wondering if this would have to be a point in case where I would have to wait for him and he would eventually come out in some leisurely or elaborate way. Though cynical as always, my mood wouldn’t be too sour as my mind tended to be fixated on matters of the city and tired from thinking. Coming within social range of the lady, I would wait to be addressed to see how this interaction would go.

| | Heather would smile before politely bowing in a formal manner to the guests. Casually, her body would turn to the side while her left arm raised, motioning for the door. “Sanzon has been expecting you, may your meeting be enjoyable Gentlemen”. She would speak with a light, carefree smile. It was something that I kept her around for, and really enjoyed about her. As for myself, I would remove myself from my office and take a seat at the head of the long table. It held eight chairs on each side, with one at each end. A change of pace, I would be wearing my same white suit, but with a teal shirt and silver tie. The tie would be kept loose with the top button undone. I liked to relax while I was working. Waiting for the guests to enter, I would take a drink of water, and wonder why the commander of the spirit killers would be down here. To me he was nothing more than a self righteous body guard who held no open mind and was a barrier between our coexistence. I bet it irked him to see I was actually going to be educating humans.. Upon their entrance, a simple “Yoness” would escape my lips.

“Enjoyable,” echoes in my mind as she offers us inside with the reassurance that we had been expected. I continue beyond Heather and make my entrance into the meeting area. Upon entry, I would see a familiar figure seated at the head of a table, and as such, since it was a long table, I would pause at the chair directly opposite him with a male escort to either side as I accept the greeting and retort, “…how many of those white suits do you own?” My hand would pull the chair back, since my hostess was already seated, and if he did not stand up to greet me, I would take my seat at the chair I stopped at, with my party taking seat with me. I didn’t really expected Sanzon to stand on my entrance and shake my hand, but I wouldn’t have been surprised if I would have had to duck a ‘playful’ lightning bolt. Due to the fact that I did not wish to get too far into jovial banter with the hostess, I would keep my opening brief as I would continue my earlier question with a simple, “nice place you have here, Sanzon Loki.”

| | “White’s the new thing this season, and at the battle rate I have, I ruin them often.. you should see the dry cleaning bill.” I kept the answer short and simple, but still enjoyable while I watched his escorts move in with him. Wow, he didn’t have a firearm out. Unlike him, I wasn’t about to open fire on a guest at first sight just because he wasn’t my kind. I would stand shortly, before motioning to the chairs, and returning to my seat. The conference room door would close, and heather would move to my right, taking the first seat next to me. “Gratzi. It isn’t big and flashy like your place, but it does what it needs to. Gentlemen, this is Heather, my personal assistant. She will be taking notes for records, and emailing them to you later today. Now, what would be so important that your highness came down to visit..” I would lightly poke fun at his rank, since I had met him almost every step of the way there. Come to think of it, we had a pretty complicated business relationship..

“Kingdom matters,” I would retort after accepting the fact that Heather would be recording minutes. Sitting comfortably upright, I go right into, “no doubt you’ve seen the broadcast of the mayor’s speech.” A bit of me knew that if he saw it, there was a chance he would have enjoyed it. I judged that the mayor had done well in successfully throwing me under the bus without me having prior knowledge of it coming. I explain, “When I initially spoke with the major, he advised that he would explain to the city, the threat that was against us. This would make it easier to combat our enemy, but it seems that he’s had a change of heart and has chosen to progress the current propaganda even further. I have no control over that. Perhaps it was I who dropped the ball on this one, but in thinking about our earlier meeting, I agree that taking an offensive strategy will work better than the reactive defense we have been holding for some time. I can gather together resources, but splitting my men between protecting the city and probing for the enemy would be ineffective. Due to the fact that the attack came from the outside, we’ve reason to believe there may be some type of demonic bastion hidden within the forest. If we’re able to locate this area, it will open up possibilities for counter measures against our enemy and perhaps cripple whatever plans they have be creating for the future. Since you could fly and know other demons, I assumed you to be the best suited for assisting in this effort.”

| | Heather would give a light snicker at the thought of the broadcast. My laughing was heralded across the entire upper compound as I watched it. It seemed to me that the upper leadership for the humans had no interest in revealing that our kind existed. Rather stupid move if you ask me, but they can do as they wish. “There is a gateway there that leads to what you humans have called “hell”, or the “underworld”. I have seen it myself, but have never ventured down there. I am a spirit of the upper world, and whether you wish to accept the fact that I am of a higher order, well, that’s your problem. I do agree that counter intelligence would be a much needed asset for an offensive against them. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could drop one of your tactical warheads straight into the underworld? Man, that would be pretty sweet to watch..” I sighed at the thought of it being that easy. The hard part of his plan wasn’t going to be finding the enemy.. it would be getting those other demons to assist me. I had a hunch, however that a particular dark magic user may just be interested in going spirit hunting. That ice demon had escaped us twice now, and I wasn’t about to let a chance to knock him off of his pedestal slip by me due to simple politics.

His words seem a bit familiar as I remember the hell realm which I was transported to during the inane Dark Tournament that was held. There was had the surreal experience of observing demons first hand and the environment in which then lived. I felt that if they had good contractors, they could probably fix up the place, there seemed to be enough room for expansion. Though I was in the demonic realm, I was teleported there and returned back to the human realm in the same manner. I felt that the fact that Sanzon knew where the entrance was could prove to be helpful in the future.
With his words, I enlighten, “I have been there once, though I’m not sure of the feasibility of dropping a weapon of mass destruction in it. Perhaps setting one up to detonate would be more reasonable.” I push the conjectures to the side to continue, “but that is good if you are able to examine the location of this portal. I would not know, but there is a good chance that the enemy may be gathering their forces there.” Moving to the point that would help us, I comment, “I would like you to go there and mark the location for us. We can back you up with aerial drones, but we won’t be able to see much beneath the forest canopy; some of those trees are hundreds of years old and have grown to heights well capable of hiding large numbers. There has to be remnants of the demonic army; if you can find those, then the first objective of this plan will be realized.”

In listening, I supposed to myself that a week’s time was a good enough time table to work with. I didn’t expect someone like Sanzon to get up and get to work immediately, but when he stated he needed to gain some assistance, I thought that may end up being a bother in the long run. I knew that I had to give him some type of freedom with his resources, but I wanted to make sure that everything was still under the control of the Division; third parties went into the realm of unknown variables. In my interactions with Sanzon, the only friend I confirmed of his was the fire type that was sited with him at the time of his capture. That one had gotten away and seemed more powerful than Sanzon; it would be a bother if he resurfaced and became active in things. As he continues to speak, I wondered why he cared whether or not the upper leadership knew of it. Giving a generic answer, I advise, “the Division does not work outside the government that encases it.” Furthermore, I inquire, “how many ‘others’ do you need to gather together to perform this function?” In my opinion, a smaller group would be better for a recon mission, but the overall plan was to diminish spiritual presence; I felt that this could turn out to work in an interesting manner for the human team.

| | Well, now this had gained my attention. Come to think of it, I wasn’t really sure if this could be considered anything other than a suicide mission. What reasoning did I have to trust that he would actually give air support when it was needed? I kept my mouth shut for a moment before elaborating on what we were actually up against.. Time to get down to business. If I were to be taking one week to get things settled, it would have to start tonight. “Myself, along with a demon named Domen, are two powerful spirits. With our combined power, we were nearly able to kill one of them.. there are six. If you think that your technology can stand up against that level of power assaulting you at once, be my guest.. but I’m pretty confident that we already got a taste of what your abilities were when it came to protecting your city. The entire reason you are here is to ask my help because you can’t do it yourself, and I acknowledge how difficult it is for you to even be in my presence. For this to be more than just a suicide mission to the other world, it will require at least three of us to be successful. I am sure you remember the fire lion, a counterpart of mine.. Domen, I am sure you at least a little bit of intelligence on.. speaking of intelligence, did you ever get to watch the storm we brought down? It was pretty ballin, if I do say so myself. Now that I know we can handle one of those things with an ability like that, we just have to make sure to not do it in the city.. and sorry about the east side.. my bad.”

| | After Heavenly Manifestation Arc I allow him to talk. I felt I should probably clarify that I didn’t need him to actually fight the demons once finding them, but if he wanted to do that, he could be my guest. My thoughts were more along the lines of finding the location and performing a strategic strike, but him creating a preemptive ruckus before the Division attack would work out just fine as well. I wasn’t entirely pleased that he would be wishing to reintroduce the Fire type; I would much prefer he stay under whatever rock he seemed to be under at the moment and that went for the one labeled Domen as well. There was a department of intelligence that went over the available surveillance videos from around the city’s affected region that survived, but my attention had been brought to the attack he mentioned. The cameras were able to feed into the backups before being destroyed, so I would have a good idea of who this Domen was as well as knowing that somehow that pup that Izumi watched over was affiliated with them somehow as well. I didn’t mind really about the devastation he caused; I couldn’t do anything to the other demon, but Sanzon’s property and taxes would rise accordingly since the city had to rebuild. It would make sense for taxes to increase across the board for businesses and corporations, due to the trauma the city endured, but lucky Sanzon here would be sure to mysteriously enjoy fewer tax breaks than the other businesses. Still, there was no need to voice any of this to him. I simply nod and confirm, “If you are confident you can do it then I will leave this to you. You know how to contact me, so that I can be kept up to date. This concludes the purpose for my visit.” Standing, the two others stand with me. Looking to one of the males to my side, he lifts up a brief case and places it on the table, before opening it. He turns it towards Sanzon and it displays a white suit almost identical to the ones he wears. I confirm, “this should cover the damages to your personal belongings in our last encounter. Don’t worry, it won’t explode if you wear it.”

| | I looked across at him as he stood up, along with the other two. I would lean back in my chair, allowing Heather to stand. She could show them out, I had no reason to do so. After all, when I had left the city, he was rather peculiar towards me. I watched his face at the mention of my fire wielding counterpart, but could attain no information from it. Oh well. Speaking of him, I hadn’t seen him in a rather long while, and it was a surprise that he was actually not here with us right now. Bringing my attention over to the box, I half expected it to be some sort of spirit ordnance. To my immediate surprise, a suit was presented to replace the one his men had ruined. “how thoughtful.” A smile crossed my face at the comment he made about it blowing up. It seemed like even he had a sense of humor in some roundabout way. “Heather, please show these gentlemen to the food and drink in the lobby. You are free to have as much as you want before departing. As always, Commissioner, it is a pleasure doing business with you. I will give you a call as soon as I am ready to head to the west. Try to keep the city safe this time around, last time I came back the metro was a disaster zone. I know it pains you to be here, but I hope that our continuous cooperation will someday give you an ease of mind towards my kind.” With that, I would stand, and politely bow to the men, as a sign of respect. I did believe in what they did to protect their people, just as I would protect mine here. “Travel safe.”
