| During a turn, you may attack, block, or rest.
To attack: Use a technique and calculate damage/stamina drain as follows. Note: Default attack is melee, novice level, and equal to strength stat
Level Name | Value | Damage | Drain (novice) | (honed) | (mastered) | (perfected) | Weak/Low | 0 | 10% | 10% | 9% | 8% | 5% | Average/Medium | 1 | 25% | 20% | 18% | 15% | 10% | Strong/High | 2 | 50% | 30% | 26% | 23% | 15% | Ascended/Fierce | 3 | 75% | 40% | 35% | 30% | 20% | Supreme/Destructive | 4 | 100% | 50% | 44% | 38% | 25% | Normal weapons can block/nullify 4 points of damage in a fight before breaking. A hit that is partially dodged will still do damage, albeit reduced (usually half). Techniques in your affinity cost half the stamina that they ordinarily would to use. Transformations cost 5% stamina per post to hold. When out of stamina, techniques drain from your health.
To block an attack: State blocking IC if possible, and subtract your defense from the numerical value of the attack. (Defense operates on the same scale as attacks) If there is no way to block the attack IC (i.e. sneak attacks, attacks while bound or stunned), you take full damage. If it is a magix attack where the attack is larger than what you are blocking with (i.e. a weapon), then you still take damage and at most halved if much of the concentration of the attack can be displaced.
Resting: Health does not regenerate, however, stamina regenerates 5% every non-action post by default.
Critical Strikes: If you are attacked in a critical area with a weapon or sharp object and cannot block, there is a high chance it may kill you by default. “Critical area” usually means an unguarded head or throat.
Magix lockup: When 2 magic attacks meet, the strongest one always wins. Exception: If the weaker attack is twice as controlled as the other, and only one level weaker, the weaker one wins Corollary: If the attacks are the same strength, whoever gives up first takes damage
Winning: An opponent is unconscious at 10% HP and dead at -10%
Other Rules: Remember to chant for magix techs unless you're a yokai Do not use OOC knowledge IC. Do not time travel. Once you confirm an action, it is confirmed no matter what your opponent may do. Use future tense if an action might change depending on your enemy's reaction. By extension... Do not refer to an unconfirmed hit in present or past tense (i.e. “I would slit his throat” instead of “I slit his throat”) [Grammar and Style Version: If the sentence has a direct object that refers to another player, stick "would" after the subject. If, on the other hand, the word referring to the other player is in a prepositional phrase, it's ok to leave off the "would" i.e.: "I shoot at his face" is ok, but not "I shoot his face".] Be specific (i.e. “I would slash at his face” instead of “I would slash him”) If an attack is not on your bio or on the updates list, your character does not have it. Do not make several movements within the same technique to react to an opponent. It is helpful if you include what your main action was at the bottom of a post. If any rules have been violated, do not post on the thread. Contact the other person privately, and if that doesn't resolve the issue, consult a manager before continuing. A combatant has 48 hours to post before automatic manager intervention for lateness.
