History: I was born to a street whore with a drug and alcohol problem. She could have really cared if I went to school. I learned to lock the doors and never open them to anyone. Mother never wanted anyone to harm me. If she brought someone back to the house, she would always make enough noise that I would know and run to hide in my closet. She was gone most of the time and left me to my own devices. Being alone so much finally had me looking for a way to express my feelings. I acted out by stealing. Eventually I was caught and since I was so young nothing happened to my record. But Child Protection Service came and picked me up from the shit hole I called home. For years, I moved in and out of foster homes. Some good, some bad. But my mother always "cleaned" herself up enough to get me back. That was life, there was one shining moment though, I was placed in a foster home that was close to where Natsuki lived with her mother. We went to school together and I had a relatively good life. It was like we were destined to be friends. I learned that I had rather awesome talents with acting and music. I also enjoyed painting. Finally there was something I was good at besides hiding and getting into trouble. Eventually my mother got me back and moved out of town to get away. I just disappeared one night from the foster home. She really tried to clean her act up this time. Mother stayed clean and sober for three years, but the life of drugs and alcohol finally caught up to her. She died a few months ago. At least she got to see my painting win an award before she passed. She was proud of me as she held my hand at the hospital. Mother told me that at least I had turned out right and that she was sorry for everything she had done to my life. When she died I was heart broken and swore I would never lead that kind of life. In fact I would return to the city and prove that someone could crawl out of the gutters and into a life of fame and fortune. I would show them that there was a promise of a better future if you but reached for it. |
