Life on the line Empty
PostSubject: Life on the line   Life on the line EmptyThu Sep 23, 2010 2:07 am

Kuna was moving through alleyways trying to dodge a gang of ruffians who were chasing after him because of his clothing. He was moving as fast as he could, but the ruffians where still keeping up with him which surprised him a lot. He would have thought that being as athletic as he was would give him an edge, that had evaporated quickly enough as he tried running away only for them to keep up with him. There had been a few times where he had been able to get some distance away from them by throwing things in their way, which had tripped them up. His luck had run out though upon him reaching a dead end. The blond would flash a smile at the gangsters as they closed ranks to prevent him from running.

"Hey guys...maybe we can talk this out?"

Life on the line Seijpb_01
What was her reason for being here? Well she had caught wind of some trouble that had traveled to her ears by word of the peasants of the village. They knew of Seijin and they knew of her position and she was always there to assist them if they ever asked for assistance. "Oh young Priestess, please hurry there are some ruffian's chasing after some strangely dressed man!" an old lady quickly said this to Seijin, who gazed at her with a firm tone. "Strangely dressed?" The old lady nodded her head and pointed the way where those that were running earlier had ran. Hopefully she would catch them in time. Was it a person from a different village? Or maybe another visitor from the future? It wasn't positive but Seijin was going to find out. Quickly she would head through the alleyway's and soon find the mess that they had made along the way. She was pretty quick on her feet, like most within the village. Upon arriving though, it looked like she managed to make it to the scene before anything had started. "By the order of the holy one, Halt your actions!" She said in a firm tone, along with holding a serious face. She wasn't going to allow harm to fall onto anyone so long as she was there.

The gang of youths stopped in mid-stride and turned around to face Seijin, and they could immediately recognize the face of the high priestess, whatever malignant thoughts crossed their minds were quickly dashed by her appearance. There was no way that they could deal with the kind of trouble a high priestess could bring down on top of their heads. They would give her a collective of dirty looks and half murmured insults before skulking away and leaving Kuna unscathed.

The blond wiped his forehead and a lot of his tension disappeared once the youths were gone. "Thanks a lot." He would say noting the formal way that she dressed, but she seemed as athletic as the rest of the villagers looked, quite perplexing. "You wouldn't know where I happen to be by any chance do you?" He asked.

Staring toward's the youth's and holding her firm look they had stopped what they were planning to do and waked away with their heads hung low. Thank goodness. She thought to herself and then her earthly colored eyed shifted to the one that was being chased. Looking at him and hearing how he spoke, there was no doubt about it. He was one from the future. Was this another straggler left behind? It had been quite many years since that time. Seijin had soon relaxed her firm appearance into more of a gentle one and unleashed a joyful smile upon her face. He had asked the question of his location as she was quite happy to assist with that. "Currently sir, you are located in the village of Saichuushigai." Her hands came in front of her as she gave a small bow to him and after her bow she spoke again. "I'm rather please that I have made it in time to prevent any needless fighting. Before I go on I must introduce..." She was a rather important person in the village, but didn't really gloat about it or hold it above other people's heads, she helped others out as best as she could and was quite happy with doing such, its just her position allowed her to help out people more often then naught. "I am Saichuushigai's Priestess and Seer Seijin Senkensha. It's a pleasure to meet you."

It seemed that his appearance nor mannerisms disturbed the girl, which was odd since he would think a bit of caution would be used around a unknown like himself. It indicated one of two things the first was that she was relatively powerful enough not to be disturb by a stranger like himself, and the second was that she had dealt with people from the future like himself before. It seemed though that it was a mix of the two the lent itself to her confidence in handling him. He was just mostly grateful that she wasn't there to kill him for looking at her in the wrong manner. "Ah, I am Inoue Kuna, and I'll be quite honest. I have no real clue when or where I am." He said scratching the back of his blond head.

She gave a bow when she heard his name. "I can assist you with such answers for your questions." She stated, she herself didn't really consider herself powerful, as a matter of fact she's never really been in battle to understand even how close her strength's truly are. She started to answer his questions. "You are not the first one's from your time to have arrived here. It's been close to about two years if I recollect correctly that a group of your people had arrived here. Seem's as though a portal has been ripped open to allow movement between the two times. From what I have been told, the current time you are in is several hundred years into your time's past." Seijin wondered if that would suffice as an answer for him. "Do please follow me, let us retreat from this alleyway and head on into a more spacious area."

He listened too the information in rapt attention assimilating it and letting the gears work in his mind. *A group of people appeared here two years ago, so Izuya didn't just transport me here. No, I can't just assume that he is behind all of it, so it was probably some other person that was responsible in bringing the first group here.* There was another pause in his thinking while he gave a bow towards the girl and followed her out of the alleyway *She mentioned a portal, something physical perhaps, that could be a way for me too find my way back too the present, which would be good for me. I want to learn though as much as possible about all of this.* He finished his thoughts while following her. "What happened to that group?"

Her pace was calm and in no ways rushed. She kept her speed calm just so she can walk alongside the new person of the future that she has just met. New thing's were always so interesting to her. "The first group, well three months after their arrival a portal that led back to their time had been found. So they all departed back to their time. Since then I personally haven't seen anyone else of your time, well except that one boy who held aqua colored hair. Quite the interesting sir he was, he spoke just like you did. It was a bit odd, but it was understandable for the most part." She thought about Seiki for the moment wondering how he was doing now and if his quest for saving his Sensei was turning out well. She added him to his prayers every night, even if he didn't believe in the Watchers above didn't mean they didn't watch over him. "The location of the portal is found at a cove to the north east not to far from Shima island."

He gave a slight nod of his head thinking about what was said. Kuna was immediately presented with the knowledge to go home, but he did not want to leave just yet. There were a few things that questioned in the back of his mind. "Hm, thank you for telling me where I could possibly get back too my own time, but I have a few more questions to ask." The blond said while mulling them over in his mind "You don't seem too curious to find out what happened in the future or am I mistaken?" He asked as they finally came into the main avenue of the village. People were staring at the both of them, but it was the association that the priestess was having with the unusually dressed man.

This one didn't seem ready to return back home just yet, but he was pleased to know of the way to getting back home. Seijin glanced about and gave smiles to those who looked her way. Of course this did not mean she wasn't listening to him, she was. Her head turned slightly to look at him. "No, I am not, I am rather pleased with the time I live in. I do not wish to venture into a new world where I might see things I probably do not like. I don't want to know if our future turn's out to be something that I do not wish it to be." Her hands laced by the fingers in front of her as her gazed shifted away from him and continued walking. "Is there anymore questions? Feel free to ask, I will answer to the best of my abilities."

He cocked an eyebrow at what she said. There were lots of issues with time and space that had to be considered, but still it was an interesting answer. "Sorry for asking about it, just seemed strange you not wanting to know the outcome of your life to see what could be changed, but you are probably right the less you know the better it is." Kuna said thinking back too his conversations with Izuya. "It seems like this is a pretty peaceful village, don't you have to worry about demons and lesser spirits?" He asked knowing that like his reasoning in the future there was probably a set of groups that hunted spirits down to keep humanity safe.

Seijin listened to his question about the demon's and lesser spirits and she acquired a somewhat worried face. How could she explain such a thing? He was a new person to the village, she didn't want to just throw a huge worry onto him stating that there are demon's all over. How could she put this not to set a worry. "There isn't much to worry on the spirits nor demons. They are kept to a minimum thanks to the Spirit hunters." In this time, they really kept on the ball, though with the recent incident that has occurred not that many years ago, it seems demon's are spawning up from what maybe no where at all, or they could be coming from another time all together.

That got him thinking for a bit. "Seems like we are dealing with multiple dimensions each connected too a portal. That is pretty interesting." He would say with a laugh before raking a hand through his hair. "Its good to know though that you've been able to keep things under control." He would say more absent mindfully while he thought on a few other subjects he could ask about, "Can you tell me a little bit more about this spirit hunters because I would be interested in taking back as much knowledge as I can about spirits before trying to find that portal of which you spoke of before." He would say knowing that this was probably the best method he had of learning and being able to get the chance of putting his hands on Izuya and accomplish his goal all at the same time.

She blinked when he mentioned something about multiple dimensions. Again with the weird language, the people of the future had terms that just confused the girl of the primitive past. Eventually though she gave a nervous laugh at his comment about keeping thing's under control. she didn't do it alone, she had others to help. This village was quite big and her alone wouldn't be enough to keep everyone under control. "I must apologize, theres not much I can tell you about the Spirit hunters. They keep to the woods, and don't really like to speak to others about what they do. All anyone really knows is they come and slay spirits and demons and to keep humans safe from harm from those spirits and demons." That truly was all she knew about the spirit hunters.

He looked disappointing, but it was better to go on then just nothing at all. Kuna wasn't so self involved to see that she was getting uncomfortable with his line of questioning, and he did certainly not want to alienate her. She was the only person who had helped her so far. "Thank you for answering all of my questions. I just have one more question." He looked around again "You know of a place where I get food and boarding?" It was then that he realized that any money that he had too would no doubt not be any good as well "Annnnd some place where I could earn money?" He asked flashing the whites of his teeth in a smile.

With the size of this village, of course there would be a few locations for an INN to reside and even a place to eat. As for a job, something like that would have to ask around. Seijin wasn't too sure who was hiring and who wasn't. This was a big place and she constantly stayed at the temple having her duties to attend to. "A place for food and boarding, there are several locations, near each of the village's entrances and at the cardinal points." Meaning one to the north, one to the north east, one to the north west and so on. "As for a place to eat, some of the inn's contain a place to have meals, and there are some bars where you can get fed. There one near by and as for a place to work, that you would have to look around yourself. I do not know that myself, I work in the temple constantly so I do not know as to what business's are searching for help. Though you can try the bars, if i remember correctly, though I am not positive, they may be searching for assistance."

Kuna would once again give a nod and his thanks. There was a thought to ask about her religion since she had identified herself as a priestess, but he thought it best to hold back on questions like those until he was more settled in around his surroundings. "I must thank you again for giving me all of the assistance that you have given me. I thought everybody would be hostile since I am sticking out quite obviously." He said referencing both the looks they were getting along with the youths that had been chasing after him before. *Note to self look into learning some self defense courses.* Kuna thought in his mind.

Seijin rather enjoyed that she was being helpful. She took pride in what she does and took pride in helping others when they needed assistance and if she was able to assist them, she would. Looking to him she giggled softly lifting a hand to cover her mouth as she had giggled. "Oh it's quite alright. Everyone here remembers that time when the other group had come, but it's still quite new to them and they don't understand. People usually fear what they don't understand which causes some unwanted troubles." She lowered her hand after her giggling had ended as she laced her fingers in front of her again. "How long do you plan to stay in this time?"

He kind of found it odd that she would giggle like that, and he would take a few seconds to figure out why. She got some enjoyment out of helping people. That was something that he could admire from a person especially in the future where everything seemed more nihilistic in their attitudes. "Yeah, it seems like that is a common attitude across times." He would tap the side of his chin at her next question. "I think spending at least a few months exploring this world and learning what I can." He would say looking back at her.

He stated he was going to stay a couple months, a thought occurred into her mind. He may end up getting involved with what's to come. She nodded her head to what he had said. Trying to figure out a way to see if she could persuade him to take an early leave without really having to inform about what may occur in the coming future. Though she couldn't really think of a way. "Well then I do hope you enjoy your time here. The way you speak about learning, sound's as though it fascinates you, back where you come from are you a scholar?"

"Scholar? No, I am afraid not, just a high school student." He would say knowing she probably wouldn't get the reference he was making. Kuna scratched his chin at what he said wondering if he should bother explaining it, but she had pretty much expressed no interest in wanting to know about the future; therefore, there was no reason to try and explain it. "I figured I might as well make the most of this opportunity and learn as much as possible since getting dumped here."

Again with odd words, these future people sure had a habit of speaking with strange words when talking to those of her own time. She wasn't sure what he meant by high school, but she did understand the word school and was capable of linking them together into thinking that it was just some higher schooling that he was apart of. She tilted her head, he was interested in learning but yet wasn't a Scholar? Well that was interesting indeed. "Well I guess it's always good to learn." This one was just as interesting as all the other future people. "Do you all speak in such a way as you do?"

"I would have explained it, but you kind of expressed a disinterest in learning about the future. Hence, I was not sure to explain the meaning of the word, but it looks like you've got the meaning of it regardless." He would say as he scratched his chin

She gave a smile as she shrugged her shoulders. "It was just never an interest for me to know what happens so far into the future. Though such knowledge of what will occur is inevitable. I already heard quite a lot of things back when the other group has come. Speaking of buildings that tower into the sky, I seen some of their metal dragons carriages... I believe they called them.." she tapped her chin trying to remember the word. "Cars." She looked at him and shrugged her shoulders. "It seem's so different, but my interest for your time isn't strong enough to learn of what occurs specifically. If someone like me from the past learns of what occurs in the future and I decide to do something to change it, then what occurs to your time?"

"Its actually interesting depending on how you look at space time mech..." He would pause once more knowing it would probably go over her head, so he would stop in his tracks. "I guess it would just depend on how the physics of everything worked, but there is a wealth of possibilities." He would say. "You said you were a priestess? Are you a local shinto priestess or another denomination?" He asked her.

She stared at him a moment as he was about to talk about space time and she blinked clearly already getting confused. The is a wealth of possibilities? Exactly what did he mean by that? She looked ahead of herself as listened to him. "There is one large temple within this village. I do not know if it still stands in your time, but here it's the religious backbone of the village, The Temple of Light. I am the priestess and the Seer to that temple." The temple itself was pretty large and was located near the center of the village right next to the river that ran right through the center of the village.

He gave a nod of his head. "Pretty interesting." Kuna would say as he looked around and kept pace with her as the continued to stroll the avenue. "What are the tenets of your faith?" Kuna would continue saying while there was a slight rumble of his stomach showing the teenager that he hadn't eaten in a long time since coming here. "Ah, sorry about that haven't gotten anything to eat since I got dumped here." The Blond explained as he slowed to a stop.

He then asked her about the tenets' of their faith, that is a first that was ever asked of her from the people she has met from the future. She was going to respond, but the grumbling of his stomach had grumbled which interrupted what she was going to talk about. She too came to a halt a few step's ahead of him as she looked back and smiled. "Well then shall we get you something to eat then? About now my temple should be providing food for those who cannot pay for themselves, so lets head there."

He would give a slight nod of his head, somewhat ashamed that he would be having to take charity, but you had to do what you had to do some hundred years in the past as it were. "Thank you for the food." He would say once more before following her through the village until they reached the temple. It immediately reminded him of all the Buddhist temples that were around Sai city, but he did not expect for the architecture to change all that much in regards to religion.

He thanked her for the food and she nodded her head. She led him to the Temple of time, it's appearance made of wood and stone. Traditional old style Japanese temple. The place was large and at the front held symbol's of the one they put faith in, the one who came down and brought religion into the world; Merkus. "This is The Temple of Light, please right this way." she stated as she led him in through the front entrance. Many monk's, nuns, priestess, priests were all walking about the temple and moved about. Every so often some would stop and bow to Seijin and give their hello's but calling her 'Young Priestess' "We have the food set up this way." she led him to the main prayer room, which was a extremely large room, several tables had been set up and many people were already sitting down and eating. Up near the largest statue in the room were the tables where the food was set up. The staff that worked at the temple were behind the food items and assisting those that came by with plates to get food in them.

He was observing the place and he could see the iconography repeated through the grounds of the temple. *Seems to be one of the tenets of their faith.* Kuna thought to himself to himself as he watched others scurrying about the temple. It seemed to be a normal daily routines as far as the high school student could tell. His attention would perk up at the mention of food, and he eagerly followed her into the dining hall. It looked like there was nothing much different with how the food was made or prepared, and he could see several of his favorite dishes as well. He tempered himself though as he picked up a plate and utensils, and began picking out enough to satisfy himself. There he would sit down. "Should I offer up a prayer to your god before I eat?"

She looked around rather happy to see there being already people here eating already. She herself wasn't hungry as she had already eaten before she left the temple, she usually always does. Making sure to have a good and healthy breakfast. She would look to him as he helped himself and she kept her smile. She smiled a lot hardly ever showing any negative emotions. After he helped himself to food and got himself a seat, she walked over next to him. Standing by the table as he asked a question. Truly a first that would speak upon prayer it made her heart beat in a happiness to hear someone say such a thing. "It would be greatly appreciated." She responded with cheer in her tone.

"Well, you would have to lead it since I am kind of ignorant of your religion." He would say letting her lead the brief prayer and following it up by mimicking what she said. Kuna would wait until it was over before taking his chopsticks and immediately digging into the assorted foods that he had assembled onto his plate. "I have a slight personal question if you don't mind me asking, but when did you know you wanted to be a priestess of this temple?" Kuna asked her between bites of food.

She smiled again, this one made her happy to hear such words escaping his mouth. Not one did she remember any of the other future people ever asking her about her religion and even suggesting such a thing as a prayer. She is more than happy to lead a prayer for him before he ate and she would lead the prayer. "Oh great Watcher high above, do grant us your blessing's for the food that has been given..." Her prayer continued on with mentions of a Merkus as well and the word Watcher continued to pop up a lot in the prayer. She finished the prayer and allowed for him to eat. She took a seat across from him as she would wait for him to finish. Though his question popped up while he was eating. "I have always been a priestess ever since I was able to walk."

He listened to her half halfheartedly. "Haven't you always questioned what you wanted to do though; haven't wondered what your life would be like as somebody else?" Kuna asked as he finished one side of his plate. "So, who is this watcher guy you were saying in your prayer? Your central deity figure?" He said with a little smile towards her. It was interesting to listen about this religion even if he had no intention of joining it. He was just being a good guest.

One full of question's certainly he seemed like a scholar though he spoke stating he was not. Truly those of the future turn out strange compared to the people of this time. Though his question kinda bothered her, she enjoyed her life as a priestess and couldn't think of her life being anything different than what she already is now. She would answer his question with a shake of her head. "I haven't questioned it, I am quite pleased with what I am and I wouldn't want it any other way." she stated as he finished one side of his place, his next question came in asking about the Watcher. He seemed like a few others of the future seem to lack the knowledge of who the watcher did. Seem's like faith isn't as powerful in the future then as it is now. "The Watch is our god, the one who watches over us, see's us come into life and come to death."

Kuna gave a slight nod of his head. "Ah." He would simply say as he finished the rest of the food on his plate and contemplated everything she had said. "Usually, religions have a mythology, so I was just curious about yours." He would say as he scratched the back of his head. "What does your religion say about the dead and spirits?" He asked.

Her hands were resting in her lap as she sat with a straight back, her eyes gentle and focused upon the man sitting across from her. Certainly he was an interesting one, by far the most interesting she had met and spoken too of those from the future. "The teaching's of Merkus speak of the after life in short bits, telling of two other realms one which contains demons known as yokai's or even Onikonjous, and the other that is the opposite which contains the angels, the term they used was Kamikonjous and once our lives upon the earth is over, we will be granted access into the realm of the angel's if we follow the teachings and do good in our lives. Though the opposite can be said if one does wrong and evil and will be sent to hell if they do not repent for the sin's they have committed."

Kuna would give a slight nod of his head. "Sounds familiar too some of the religions in the future."He would say propping his head up with his right hand. "You mentioned the Watcher in your prayer, and he seems the central figure in your mythology is the Watcher." There would be a pause as he thought on it some more "Then you just mentioned this Merkus and his teachings. I am going to guess that Merkus another major figure in your religion. My guess would be a prophet, who brought the word of the watcher too the past?" Kuna theorized.

With the manner that he spoke she gave him a stare. She understood it, it just took her a moment to actually let what he said sink into her mind. She got a little upset by what he said though, calling the Watcher a myth. Seijin took n a deep breath and had to keep her annoyance in check. "Yes, Merkus was sent down by the Watcher to pass on his words to us. Without them we wouldn't be where we are today." She stated and soon added. "and I would greatly appreciate it if you did not call the Watcher a myth."

"Ah, sorry about that. Its just when looking at all religions there are stories and creation myths that impart the basic tenets of the religion." He would explain. "I was just looking at your religion from a secular point of view. I am sorry though if I offended you. So, if the Watcher sent Merkus down to teach you to do good things to get into heaven, would their be any central antithesis to Merkus or the watcher?" Kuna would say as he cleaned off the last bit of his plate.

He truly acted a lot like a scholar, but he said he was not. Someone who was confused about who they are, or rather who they could be. "I must apologize, this word antithesis is rather mind boggling, I heard not such a word around here before." She would have answered his question if she understood it properly. She was not a scientist so she didn't have such a wide variety of vocabulary as they would and she was not from the future either even then her vocabulary would not be as complex as those of the future.

"Well, I guess I should have put it into context." Kuna would say as he picked up a few of his utensils. "You have the watcher as your deity and Merkus is the prophet and one of the big figures within your religion."He would then pause and look back up to her "I do hope you won't take offense at what I am saying. Its just me working things out in my own way of understanding your religion and beliefs." That said he would continue on "There are several questions that a religion answers. Why was the earth created and things of that nature. My question was there any counter figure too the watcher or Merkus that would be known as evil, whose job it is too tempt mortals and all that evil rig-amoral."

Seijin sat there having to listen to this man attempt to bring a reasonable explanation and comparing it to other religions. She kept a calm composure though. "There are no main evil, just the yokai's and onikonjous none were ever specifically pointed out." She stated as she kept sitting with a straight back and awaiting for more questions from this man. She wondered how many more question's was he going to ask and if all of them were going to sound so complicated and confusing. Oh well only time would tell, though she couldn't sit here all day and answer everyone of his question's she still has her priestess duties to attend to.

He gave a slight nod of his head, and he had a hundred different questions to ask. It seemed like though he needed to wrap the conversation up, so he would give a gracious nod of his head too the girl. "I think I have asked all the questions I need, and I get the feeling that I am holding you up too much from performing your duties. Thank you for your help with the thugs and getting me something to eat. I am very much in your debt." Kuna would say as he stood up and gave her a formal bow. "I think I will spend some time in the gardens if that is alright and think about what you told me."

She nodded her head and gently smiled as she stood up and returned a bow to him. "Yes, I have to return to my duties, you are very much welcome to spend some time in the gardens." It was good that he had his fill of question's for now. She wasn't sure how much longer she could have kept answering them without losing her composure. It made her feel a bit dumb to say the least with the way that he spoke. It was not a very good feeling to feel, but she managed to answer quite a few question's without having to look like a complete idiot. "I must be off now, May the Watcher watch over you." she stated as a farewell before she turned and walked away from the man as she headed to do her duties that still needed to be done for the day.
