History / About Me:
Hachirou – The Eighth Son.
His family believed that naming the first born son of each generation in sequential/chronological order would bring about good luck, by honoring those who came before, and paving the way for those to come.
There has proven to be, at least to some degree, that the scheme works. Everyone named in this pattern inside the family has proven to do something great or important – in some field or another. His father developed a hunting formation designed to catch multiple animals at once with minimal people. His grandfather developed a fishing lure capable of catching four fish at once with a single piece of bait.
However, despite the rather lackluster overall importance of these ‘inventions’, Hachirou felt pressured from early on that he would have to live up to that and develop something of similar level. Perhaps because of that, he has always been relieved to take the thankless jobs and act as more of a ‘supporting character’ to other people.
His father, in an attempt to calm his worries, once told him of the many grand inventions and techniques formulated by people all over the world. While this failed to quell the unrest inside him, it did cause him to develop an interest in traveling to see these amazing things himself. That, coupled with his desire to stay out of the limelight, is what causes him to enjoy the simplicity and thanklessness of his job as a blacksmith’s errand boy. |
