It had just been about three months since my last visit to the the Tsukino clan to see Yuna. So I decided to ride all the way across the land to the lake. What a long trek this was way out in the middle of nowhere. One lake to the other. A little funny that we came from opposite sides of the map and we were the best of friends. I rode into the clan boarder and hailed the guards. Knowing the guards, they would let me pass just like every other time. I dismount and let someone take my horse to a stable somewhere. They would bring him back when I was prepared to leave. The saddle bags would be delieved to my normal room at the temple. Thinking of the temple, I find myself on the path to it. walking the steps, I wonder if Yuna is here or not. She might not be, but at least I could wait for a day or two if she was going to return quickly.

The young priest was walking through the halls of the clan's main building were discussions of religion and business both took place. As he passed rooms and other hallways, young priestess saw him and would gasp and wave at him. If he noticed them in time Nuri would wave back and smile. This would cause them to blush, giggle and hurry back to what they were doing. Nuri's long white hair seemed to shimmer and sparkle whenever the light hit it, and his walk was smooth and graceful. Some of the men said he was far to feminine. But they were just jealous cause around him they all seemed very ugly. He walked up to a door and opened it letting in the day's sunshine. Once his eyes adjusted to the light he walked outside to the grounds. "Oh what a lovely day to day. Thank you oh Lord for this blessed..." His sentence stopped as he spotted someone he was not quite familiar with. A woman who arrived on horse back. And from the looks of her she wasn't a young priestess like the others. She was a real priestess, possibly with her own temple. But he knew she was not familiar. First off most of the other women had light brown or blond hair. This woman's was black like a night sky. He was intrigued and approached her. Once he was but a mere 10 feet away he smiled and bowed. "Welcome priestess. My name is Nuri. How may I be of service to you?" He said finishing his bow still smiling.

Well this was interesting. Why had Yuna not spoken of such a warm priest from her temple. I smile as he approaches. The girls amoungst the clan must be getting quite lovestruck with this rather fetching male around them. "Perhaps you can help me" I bow as show of respect. I wasn't sure if he was just a priest or one of the high priests from another temple. Upon rising, I tuck the dark silver-gray strands of hair back behind my ear. "I am searching for High Priestess Yuna. I am High Priestess Kazakura Lin Kuei from the Temple of Time. I hope I did not miss her." I had done that quite a few times. But at least I was fond of traveling

Hearing that she was a high priestess caught Nuri by surprise. But he quickly turned it around. He bowed again quickly. "Oh forgive my rudeness high priestess. If I had known that you were of such stature I would ahve introduced myself more properly. And correct me if im speaking out of place, but I did not expect someone so beautiful and youthful to hold such a position." He said raising his head again. "High Priestess Yuna is not in at the moment. She is out doing mission work at the at this time. She is set to return in about a day. If you would like to wait I would be honored to be your escort. Though I am but a young Priest, no one knows the grounds better than I." He said.

So he was a priest, I smiled warmly at him and looked about. "I would be honored for you to escort me." I had blushed at the compliment that he had given me and just about lost the ability to talk, but I believe, I pulled that one out and made it look like nothing was amiss. "Yuna never said she had a priest so handsome in her clan. I would have been here a lot sooner. But if no one minds, I will wait. I had news for her but it can wait. I would like to tour the grounds if you know them so well." I didn't tell him that I knew most of the grounds. He was rather handsome. It felt good to be flirted with every now and then. My brothers usually scared off anyone trying to flirt with me.

She accepted the offer for him to escort her around. "Oh no Lady Kazakura the honor is all mine." He said. She then complemented him on how handsome he was. Of course he heard such things all the time from the young priestesses. But he actually liked hearing it come from her. "You flatter me Lady Kazakura, thank you for your kind words. Now im sure you must be hungry from your travels. I know of an excellent dining store a little ways off." He said as he tturned and then cocked out his elbow for her to put hers through it. "Shall we go M'lady?" He said with a clean smile.

“Yes actually, I am very hungry.” I would let him lead the way to the promised food. Hopefully he would be rather good company. Judging by his smile and handsome looks, her might just well be. “I hope you do not mind me prying, but I have to know. Why is it this is the first time I have met you? You must have taken your vows and I would remember your face.” I tried to remember exactly why I had not remembered him, then it hit me. That was the year I had fallen into the hot springs and had arrived late into the ceremony. For once it was not Yuna’s fault. The horse had bucked and thrown me. It must have been that year. I would have shown up rather soaked, much to some of the priests’ pleasure

As they walkd she asked him a question about when he was ordained and took his vows. "Hmm well it actually happened when I was quite young. I Dont mean to brag but I was the second youngest to to take my vows in the clan. I was 12 at the time." He said and then paused for a moment. "I guess that is also to my discredit though. For I have not advanced any farther than this." He rubbed his head. "I think its mainly cause the higher priests dont like how I am with the priestesses. And please dont go thinking im a lecher. Its just I cant help but talk to the women, and I feel they should be treated with far more respect than they are givin. So few priestess actually make it to the title of High Priestess. At least in comparison to the men." He sighed. "But most of the older priests see this as a lustful and being overly passionate. So I am held back, they feel I have not yet matured." He said explaining all of why he was still a 'young' Priest.

I nod at his comments. It did make sense that they would do that. Sometimes I wondered if the only reason I had been made a High priestess was my connection to the heavenly realms and the control of time that I could barely master. It was higher than most of the priests. Most of the priests were just simple martial artists, a few were possessed, and the a handful were actually able to merge with spirit world completely and wield the higher level of magic. I was one of them. Yuna was made since it was her clan that she represented. That was my thought, but I kept my mouth shut on that issue. "I understand. I would not call me old. I also think that those of us who are able to fully merge with the spirit world are automatically raised in the ranks. Our potential I think. But I think you are rather nice and I love the way you seem to treat the opposite sex. Perhaps you should come train at my temple sometime. It may help you rise quicker." I offer, my brothers would have a field day with him. But he would at least learn a few things.

Nuri was glad that she understood and did not judge him. All the others were so quick to judge it was hard to leave a good impression on anyone besides the young priestesses. "Oh M'Lady I would never assume you were old. Your youthful appearance is only complemented by your maturity." He said complementing her again. He then listened to her and nodded when she suggested that he come to her temple. "That would be a great honor. And I will gladly accept that offer. But im curious M'Lady. What do you mean by merge with the spirits?" He wondered. For he thought that maybe perhaps she had a special ability. If so he would much love to hear about it.

"As your clan well knows. Some of you can call a spirit forth to serve. Others can call a spirit into themselves to serve. Such as seer. Unlike you, these beings turn into the spirit a part of time or use that spirits powers as their own. What happened to me, as Yuna will tell you, was I merged completely with a spirit. We literally became one with each other. a lesser heavenly being. So that I am still myself, but I have access to the highest order of spells, suck as spiritual arts as well as tyme magic. I do not share my body with a spirit. I am the spirit and the Spirit is me." It was difficult to explain, it was rare but sometimes it happened.

He said chuckling to himself a bit. He then realized he must sound strange. "Im sorry, I guess with my previous statement I lead on that I know nothing of spirits. Hinata." He said and at the mention of her name, a pure white ferret appeared on Nuri's shoulder. "Oh you nosy girl. You know I didnt call for you." He said. The ferret ignored him and sniffed the air towards Kazakura. "Yes you are nosy. Forgive me M'Lady this is Hinata, my best friend. Also another reason I could not be a pervert she would get mad at me." He said joking again.

I watch the little ferret and smile warmly. My hand slowly reaches out with palm upright. If the spirit let me, I would flip my hand over and stroke her head. "You are lucky. At least you have a companion. I just have myself." I looked off for a moment in thought, my breath coming out in a sigh. "I may have access to higher spells, but I do not have a friend such as this." No I had my horse, my temple, and my own self. Shaking my head and the sad look off my face, I smile again and continue walking. "Are you enjoying the priesthood?" That was a good change of topic, much like talking of the weather.

Although she quickly changed the subject Nuri could see the sadness in her face. That she felt she was alone and didnt have anyone. In those eyes Nuri could see himself from years ago as a kid. He didnt have Hinata then, and he had no friends cause they all thought he was a demon. He was going to comment on the subject but with the quick change he decided against it. "Well I dont think I have a choice to like it or not. I was born and raised in the priesthood, groomed as a child to be a priest. Though id have to say it has grown on me over the years. I can say I am proud of what I do." He said smiling. Thats when they reached the dining area. "Ah here we are." He said. He pushed open the door and held it open for Kazakura. "After you M'Lady."

"it cannot be that bad. I enjoy myself. I love all of the scrolls that I can pursue and so many people I get to meet." Just none ever stayed around. Not to mention I traveled to other villages to play healer since temples were not in every village around here. As he opens the door, I thank him and move in. "You are so kind." Hopefully he would become a strong priest. We needed a few of those. "Just remember that the elder priestess and priests are wise. But they are also old fashioned. You can usually talk your way around them." I wink at him as I look around the place.

Nuri followed her in and listened to her words. "Hmm you said something very interesting." He said as they approached a table. He pulled out a chair for her to sit and. Once she sat down he sat down in a seat across from her. "You said you enjoy your work and meeting people. Yet earlier you said you are lonely. And though you may not have ment for me to notice. You had a deep sadness in your eyes. I felt as if I was looking into a beautiful ocean of emotion. " He said looking into her eyes. Just then a waitress walked up. "Hello," She said bowing. She then looked to Nuri. "Good to see you again Priest Nuri." She said blushing a bit. Nuri broke his attention from the high priestess for a moment to address the waitress. "Hello Janet. Good to see you again. May we have some menus please. And some water if you dont mind." He said flashing a smile. The girl's face went bright red. "Of...Of course, right away." She said quickly walking away. Nuri looked back to the priestess. "Nice girl and she works hard." He said innocently.

I blush as he explains what he sees. The lady comes to us and speaks, but I am only half listening. When she leaves I quietly reply, "It is different to have a friend around most of the time. Yuna and I get to see each other maybe three times a year. I get to see a lot of people when I go around to the villages doing minor healing and such. But usually I travel by myself with only my horse for company. It gets very lonely without that friend to confide in. It is my lot in life" I smile as the woman returns with menus. "Thank you." I say softly as I take mine.

The Priestess explained her job and how she rarely gets to see her friend Yuna. He felt saddened by this and thought for a moment. Hinata was laying in his lap and suddenly looked up at him. ~Your thinking about going with her arn't you?~ The spirit said in his mind. Nuri simply smiled and pet her. The waitress brought the menus and the water. Nuri thanked her and she walked away. "Well Lady Kazakura, I think that is unsatisfactory. Although im sure as a high priestess you can take care of yourself. I Can not in all good consciousness condone you traveling alone. And you already invited me to your temple. So how about I travel with you" He said with a kind smile. ~I knew it. That stuff about protecting her was just a cover up. You really want to travel with her cause you like...~ Hinata stopped her sentence and faded away.

I smiled at the young man and chuckled a bit. "I cannot take you away from your post. I can hand;e myself against most animals of the forest. And if nothing else, I can always run." I looked over the menu as they talked. "You are welcome to travel with me, but no need to feel like you have too. I have been traveling these paths since I was a young priestess. My cousins would love to have you around to teach you the art of fighting." When the lady returned, I owuld place my order for simple ramen. Since that is what I enjoyed when I was at home. That and fish.

His question startled me. Of course he wouldn’t know about the clan. I chuckled and shook my head. “My cousins do not live at the temple. They live with the rest of the clan. My temple is on the island on the opposite side as this lake. They just guard the temple. And annoy me while I am there. It is like having all of my brothers around me again.” I came from a very large family. And the thought of someone else to be annoyed by that ragtag group of overbearing fighters, I smiled a very playful smile. It would be fun to watch them ‘teach’ this young priest in the same manner we were all taught.

Nuri chuckled a bit at what she said. The waitress then brought out thier food. Nuri bowed his head and said a small prayer. He then grabbed his utensils. "So then you have brother's as well. How many? And do you have any sisters?" He asked as he cut the steak. He then put a piece into his mouth and savored the taste. "This place truly has the best stake I've ever tasted." He said after he had swallowed the piece and quickly went to cut another. After only a little while he had finished his food.

I thanked the waitress for the food and said my own prayer over the meal. "Well.." I said before taking a bite. "I have a bunch of brothers and one sister. Although she recently went missing. We think she ran off to the desert clan. She had someone there she was in love in with." I shrug at that and roll my eyes heavenward saying a small prayer to keep her safe. "It was about an month ago and no one has been able to track her down." I start to eat after I finish the comment. And wait for his response. when he comments on the steak I just nod my head, not wanting to speak with my mouth full.

Finishing up his food Nuri thought about what she said. "Love can make people do strange things. Even here there are many stories of love affairs going on." He said. and he knew that all to well for he was often blamed for most of them. Either someone's girlfriend or wife would secretly fall in love with Nuri. Even though he did nothing more than be himself. "It's quite possible that she will return when she feels the family would accept her love of another person. But why did she run away? I mean is it bad for your clan to love another?"

"It is not that she loved another, it is that she just disappeared." I shrugged a rounded shoulder and smiled sheepishly. "We usually marry outside the clan. Otherwise it could get a bit..." I just let it go from there and blushed at the implications. I finished my meal and waited for him. "If you wish to come, then we shall leave tomorrow. I have a few stops to make on the way."
