.Surprises in the Workplace [Jyn]

It seems I'm finally getting my life back in order. For once I feel in control as I sit within the back seat of my personal car. It was a gift from grandmother last year. Kyouya sits beside me, pouring over recent items that will require my attention as I move closer to the date where I will stand as head of Kyro Corperation. I've been groomed for this role my entire life and I'm finally taking it more seriously. I can do some good in the world if I take over. But first I have to deal with my duties in Div12. I will request I be taken off active patrol duty, yet still help train new recuits if the need arises.

The car pulls up and stops before the building I had specified when I got in. Kyouya frowns a bit, not liking me to be out of his sight now that I have become serious in my role within Kyro Corp. I pat his shoulder. He is a good friend. "No worries. I'll even do a conferance call tomorrow morning if it will keep you from getting your panties in a twist, Kyou," I tease him and his frown deepens. I smile and he sighs, handing me my purse, cell phone and blutooth. I pop the blutooth into my ear and drop my cell phone into my purse.

"I'll email you the specs of the next Nyte project for Div12 for you to review before we present it to the Commissioner, Shiori-sama," he says in a cool tone and I nod.

"Good. I want every detail. If Megumi leaves anything out I will have her ass working non stop for the next two weeks.. Without pay," I say, my tone become almost delicate yet firm and I feel the spark of my business self returning. A smirk touches Kyouya's lips and he nods. I finally get out of the car, my driver having opened my door. I incline my head to him in thanks and saunter into the Div12 building.

I'm dressed in a pair of finely tailored black slacks that hug my legs, a pair of black heels on my feet to match. For my top I wear a crimson blouse covered in a matching tailored ebony jacket. Its buttoned just under my breasts. My hair is pulled up into a bun with strands left down to gently accent my face. I walk up to the desk, showing my ID. The male secretary seems dazed at my appearance. This is how I dress for work at Kyro Corp. I don't mind it. But sometimes it a bit constricting.

"Locate McGrady-san for me please," I ask him in a calm voice. He nods and does just that. I push up the slender frames of my glasses, having been reading too much in the car. I only require glasses when reading too much fine print. It strains my eyes. But I also find that I look sexy with the little frames on when I'm all business woman. The male at the counter finally tells me McGrady is in his office and now expecting me. I thank him softly and move to the elevator. I control the urge to flip off the gawking newbies and make my way to McGrady's office. I hope he doesn't mind I'm about to step down from being one of their hunters.

McGrady’s office would be on the 4th floor of the building where the other Lt. level officers were housed. Having received the call from the receptionist lobby, he was awaiting Shiori’s arrival. He finds himself happily surprised by the visual that comes into his office. Seated behind his wooden desk and bookcase, stands and walks to the door to greet Shiori offering her a kind hug and a welcome before he motions to one of the two chairs in front of his desk asking, “what brings you to see me, Shi-chan. You went missing for a little while and had me worried. You have to give an old man warning before changing things suddenly, I was worried about you for the longest.”

I get on the elevator and push the button to take me to level 4 where Jii-san's office is. I've been there quite a few times. But the place I've been too most is Angela's little training realm. I find it to be genius. I'll have to talk to my own R&D team at Nyte Industries to see if I could get my own little private training realm like that. I really don't like the fact Angela is recording my moves and storing them. That creates information that can be used against me should someone study it for a weakness.

I sigh softly as the elevator reaches lvel 4 and I step off. Nothing is too rushed. There is a daily hum that goes with a normal work day. I walk to Jii-san's office and knock slightly before entering. I smile as I see him and happily hug him. I take a seat and find myself quickly grinning sheppishly as he make me feel like a bad kid who forgot to tell their parents where they were going.

"I'm sorry, Jii-san. I needed sometime to myself. I.. I wasn't doing well. Stress and such were making me reach a breakdown. So I went somewhere to gather myself back together. I'm okay now though," I say to him, smiling warmly. I then reach into my purse and pluck out a letter. I hold it out to him. "Also I'm here to give you this. Its a letter requesting I be taken of active patrol duty. I've learned that I've worried far too many people by being a solo hunter for the Division. I'm gonna finally settle down a bit. I'm young and such. Angela's training realm will let me blow of steam, but I'll be safe. Of course I'll fight should another outbreak happen. But I'm hoping I can take more of a desk job for now. Or even help Captain Reitosuru with training the new recruits."

McGrady moves behind his desk and takes a seat as Shiori sits down so that they could have this talk. Leaning back in his office chair, the gentleman lifts one leg over the other, clasping his hands on his knee as his attention is given fully to Shiori. He gives a look of gentle relief as she states that she feels much better now and returns the warmth of her smile. Leaning forwards, he has a curious look as he takes the letter from the young lady before leaning back in his chair. He looks at the letter inquisitively as Shiori continues to talk. Not opening it, he taps it on the desk twice before sitting it down and resting the fingers of his right hand on top of it twisting in his seat so that his lower body is to the side, but his upper body is still facing Shiori. After she’s done, he gives an understanding smile as he teases, “Being a pencil jockey is no easy matter. It’s not like lollygagging on patrols and chasing down demons; this is real work.” With a light chuckle he continues in earnest, “Well, I’m relieved to hear that. I support you in non operational role, but our current openings in that aspect for someone like you are pretty filled.” When he stated ‘like you’ he meant her professional background in the Kyro Corporation. It would seem odd for the heiress of a corporation to work a low end desk job for Civil Service. He inquires, “it’s okay if you simply want to be a trainer. Are you just saying you want a desk job to compensate for not going on patrols?”

My eyes follow him, wondering what sort of reaction I will get with this news. Even Kyouya was surprised that I said I am finally going to settle down and work within the corporate market. He knows I'm not the type to constantly be in meetings and conducting projects, but I know now that I can't just hunt demons my whole life. No. That's how I lost Jyn. Least that's what I believe. Hunting demons stirred the darkness in me. I've finally pinned it down and molded it to my command, but I cannot risk reverting back to the person I was. I was nearly insane as that power twisted my mind into a tool for itself. But its my power. I plan on keeping it under my control.

I smile a bit as he speaks of positions for people like me are filled. I know he is being kind. He knows that a simple desk job is far too easy with the experiences I have been raised with. I'll soon be running my own company along with its two sub divisions. I look at him, still smiling as I cross one leg over the other and settle my hands into my lap, clasping them gently together. I peer over the frames of my glasses, making them slide down my nose just a touch. "Jii-san. I'm simply finding a way to continue to contribute to the Division. While I did suggest a trainer.. In turn I would rather lean toward a desk job so that I may answer calls from my assistant should the need arise," I say to him and then lift a hand from my lap and tap the blutooth in my ear with a manicured nail, showing him what I mean.

"Also I know I will simply find a mediocre desk job to be far too easy. But perhaps one of the captains needs an assistant? I know I am asking a bit much from you, Jii-san. But.." I pause and my smile grows a bit. "I'm finally getting my life together and I wish to continue being apart of the Division while learning to take over Kyro Corporation so that I can find ways for my company to aide Div12 to continue its work in insuring the citizens are kept safe."

McGrady nods and responds amicably to the retort given by the lady as shown in his visage. “Well spoken,” he agrees as his gaze shifts towards my book case for a moment as he thinks. “I wonder if any of the captains need assistance,” he murmurs, “it would be easiest to have you assist someone who isn’t that important, so the workload won’t be that hard.” He gives a sigh as he leans back and rocks in his chair thinking over the task that Shoiri had labored him with. Seemingly getting an idea, he holds up a finger and advises, “one moment.” His hand comes to the phone that sat on his desk and he presses a button that connected him with HR. Cathy answers the phone and greets him. McGrady answers back with a pleasant hello and inquires, “has the 12th floor secretary returned to duty yet?” There would be a negative answer that she was still out on some type of extended leave as approved by higher up. McGrady nods and says, “ah, that’s too bad. I’m going to send you the paper work for a temporary replacement. Kyro Shiori will be moving from active duty and be assigned in that position as a temp and a trainer.” There seems to be some surprise on the other end, but McGrady laughingly advises, “it will be fine. I’ll approve everything myself, you just make it so.” With that, he places the phone down and leans back resting his forearms on the arm of the chair. He smiles and informs, “I think I’ve found a good place for you to transition into.” With a sigh, he comments, “I might get some heat for pulling this favor, but I have a feeling that everything will work out. You are my favorite granddaughter, after all.”

I feel a hint of pride as he compliments how I spoke of the situation. I mean I've always been able to speak business and such with ease, but I've never had anyone compliment me. Jii-san is honestly like a grandfather to me. One I wish I had had growing up within the confines of the Kyro Estate. Yume is surprised I'm not more of an introvert from the life I had in that household. A father who didn't care I was alive. A grandmother shoving business and mannerisms down my throat. And of course a stepmother who hates me. I did have Kyouya's uncle sometimes who helped me and is a bit like Jii-san, though in the end, Ootori-sama is loyal to my grandmother and no one else.

I tilt my head as Jii-san begins to think. I hope I didn't just ask for the impossible. His murmur makes me laugh softly and I shrug. It was up to him really. I blink as he suddenly seems to get an idea and picks up the phone. As he speaks my head tilts in the other direction, my eyes blinking almost owlishly. Now I'm curious. Level 12? I've never been up there. What's there? I wait till he hangs up and I smile brightly. I get up from my chair and walk to him and give him a big hug. He really is family in my eyes. I pull back, pushing up my glasses.

"Thanks, Jii-san. You're my only grandfather. So of course your my favorite. I'll bring you some of my tea tomorrow for you," I say, excitement shining in my eyes. "Ano..When should I go check in for my new job?" I ask, eager to meet who I will be playing assistant to. Though deep down.. I feel like I should be weary. Jii-san is known for his slight pranks. And as he mentions he might get some heat for this. I idly wonder if he picked Yukina as the one I'll work for.

The elderly gentleman receives the hug that comes in as well as the compliments in which he’s showered. He chuckles lightly in a tickled manner and leans back as she pulls away from him. He answers her, “it might take the rest of the day to get things set up. I say if you come back around noon tomorrow, I can schedule you to meet with your new ‘boss’ and we can go from there. I’m pretty sure you’ll merge right into the role; you have a lot of applicable experience, so my only worry is if the person that you will be supporting will be able to handle you. Make sure to give it your best, I’ll forward the meeting details to your cellular, but the place should be easy to find.” With a chuckle he says, “and don’t worry, it’s not Yukina. I wouldn’t even make my enemies work under her.”

I smile and nod as he tells me I can come tomorrow to meet who I will work for. I blink though as he mentions he wonders if the person I'm going to be working with can handle me. Am I really that bad? I'm not that much of a bitch to work with. Again the dread of Yukina comes back but he then reassures me its not Yukina. I feel my grin turn sheepish. Yukina and I have had a row or two before. She and I are like oil and water it seems. We can get along for the most part... We just can't 'work' together without trying to rip one another apart.

"All right, Jii-san. I'll be back tomorrow. I'm going to head to Moonbucks and see if its worth investing into," I say, an excited gleam in my eyes. I'm a business woman beneath all the hardcore hunter. Because.. In the end. The business realm is almost the same. Either you are the hunter and taking down those who try and take you down. Or your prey and you are lost among the masses. I wave and leave his office, humming to myself happily.
